Q: Can I come to one class or do I have to sign up for a full series? What is the cost?
A: You can schedule a trial class with us if room permits. Price for a trial varies depending on the class. Must pre-register.
Q: What is your make up policy?
A: We understand life happens; however, we also need to consider the cost associated with non-attendance. Our registration system has a make-up policy and cancellation policy displayed for each class we offer. You will also receive copies via email when you enroll. Please see individual class for policy info.
Q: How is "Pee Wee Art" different from "Paint Play & Music"?
A: Pee Wee is more art focused and geared toward introducing your child to routine & structure; lessons are directed by instructor. Pee Wee ends with a color related game & story.... Paint Play & Music focuses on open-ended exploration & play, less structure and ends with directed "music time".
Q: What do you do in Little Picasso's? (Age 4-5.5) Will my child learn how to draw properly?
A: Each week we focus on a different art element, art material, &/or historical artist. We apply the information we learn while making an art project. There is guided instruction but we do not force an outcome, allowing your child to experiment and develop confidence in themselves.... forcing children to draw "properly" at this age could be developmentally damaging; we do not encourage this practice.
Q: What do you do in Beginning Art? (Age 6-9)
A: Each week we focus on a different art element, art material, &/or historical artist. Students will be exposed to a range of techniques and apply the information they learn towards making an art project. We provide guided instruction, but do not force an outcome, allowing your child to experiment and develop confidence in their own creative style.
Q: Do you offer drawing classes?
A: Yes. Our Drawing Studio (Age 6.5-10+) class focuses on improving drawing skills. We focus on a new technique or theme each month.
Q: Why don't you have more classes for teenagers and adults?
A: We offer "Fine Art FUNdamentals" for children 7-12 years... There are plenty of art classes around Long Beach for older children and adults. We want to provide a place where young children can learn to love art and have the freedom to be creative & get a little messy. Besides, all of our furniture is small :)
Q: Do you charge membership or registration fees?
A: Averyboo Arts does not charge a membership or "registration" fee to attend any of our classes or visit our studio; furthermore, we don't understand why larger chains require such a fee.
Q: Do you provide private lessons to individuals &/or groups?
A: Yes. Please call to discuss your needs (562) 912-4800.
